Product Overview
HTG-2 is a zirconium / silane conversion coating (often called a ceramic or nano-ceramic pretreatment) for steel, galvanized steel and aluminium before painting or powder coating. It forms a thin, dense inorganic-organic film on the metal surface that gives strong paint adhesion and corrosion protection.
HTG-2 is free of phosphates, nickel, chromium and other heavy metals, so it replaces traditional zinc and iron phosphating with a cleaner process: it works at room temperature, needs no activation or sludge removal, and greatly simplifies wastewater treatment. Coating weight is far lower than phosphating, which cuts chemical consumption and energy cost on the pretreatment line.

What replaces phosphating in 2026?+
Zirconium-based conversion coatings, often combined with silanes, are the main replacement for zinc and iron phosphating. They avoid phosphate discharge and heavy metals, produce almost no sludge and run at room temperature, while matching phosphating performance under modern paints and powder coatings.
Is zirconium conversion coating suitable for aluminum?+
Yes. HTG-2 works on aluminium as well as cold-rolled and galvanized steel, so mixed-metal parts can be treated on one line. It is a common chrome-free pretreatment for aluminium.
Do I need to change my existing phosphating line?+
Usually only minor changes are needed: the activation and heating steps can be removed, and tanks are cleaned before switching. Our technical team can help plan the changeover.
