FK-5-1-12 (dodecafluoro-2-methylpentan-3-one, CAS 756-13-8) is a fluorinated ketone clean fire suppression agent. It is stored as a colorless liquid and vaporizes rapidly on discharge, extinguishing fire mainly by heat absorption while leaving no residue, which makes it safe for electronics, documents and high-value assets.
With zero ozone depletion potential, an atmospheric lifetime of only days and a very low global warming impact, FK-5-1-12 is the leading long-term replacement for halon and HFC agents. Its design concentration of around 4–6 % gives a wide safety margin below the NOAEL of 10 %, so it is suitable for occupied spaces.
